“We have an annual event called “Dancing on Main Street.” Each year we have ordered your typical T-shirt that you see at events. Last year a sales representative from LogoNation came into my office and introduced herself and the products she had to offer. I was very surprised at what we got for the price, as it was a full colored t-shirt with any design. We chose the historic downtown with people dancing in the streets. Our sales representative did all the work for us selling the ads to the local businesses, which was a success.”

A Unique Way To Show Community Spirit
Have you ever heard of a CommuniTee? No, that’s not a typo. The CommuniTee is the brainchild of LogoNation, one of the country’s largest screen-printers. The CommuniTee is LogoNation’s annual community promotion t-shirt. It’s designed to promote business and community pride in the small towns that make up the backbone of America. The CommuniTee’s front is designed by LogoNation and depicts the one aspect that makes a particular town special. For example, the actor Jimmy Stewart came from the small Pennsylvania town of Indiana, and the frog capital of the world is Rayne, Louisiana. The back of the shirt is sponsored by local businesses that get their very own custom designed ad in their choice of colors. Each business that sponsors a shirt gets an allotment of shirts in their choice of sizes and has the option of placing their logo within a colorful small town scene that’s featured on every shirt. In addition to the shirts that each business receives, LogoNation donates free shirts back to the community at places like the town hall, the chamber of commerce, the visitor’s center or local schools.
These donated shirts are a great way for communities to advertise their businesses and community pride at events like festivals and golf tournaments, or to be given to people who are new to the community. LogoNation was started as a two-person operation in 1998 by Denny and Jennifer Watson. They purchased a tabletop pad printer for about $2000 and set about printing promotional items like key chains, pens and coffee mugs. A few months after starting the business, they decided to offer screen-printed t-shirts, caps and sweatshirts. After taking a few screen-printing classes, the Watsons set out to grow LogoNation into one of the country’s largest screen-printers. After studying a proven sales system, Jennifer and Denny traveled to Natchez, MS to try and sell the first CommuniTee.
The response was so overwhelming that they quickly had to ditch their 1200 square foot office space for a much larger building. Today, LogoNation is one of America’s largest screen-printers and is set to print around 500,000 shirts this year.
